CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: With my recent semi-conversion to marginal fan of this man's work, this gallery opening (on the heels of his recent ridiculously popular "Saturated" exhibit in Miami) couldn't have come @ a more opportune time for me. Kaws One's reworking of pop culture imagery is not an entirely new concept, but his decidedly New York City graffiti approach to his art makes for an innovative twist on many of his subjects. I might pass through this Kaws installation @ The Gering & Lopez Gallery with some of my heavy graffiti peoples and give this exhibit an official inspection from a real nigga's perspective.
