The Official Livestyle MTV 2011 VMA's Recap AKA This Is The 3rd Annual This Is The G-Cap/This Is The G-Mix!

BONUS: Beyonce's Womb = The REAL Watch The Throne.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: I will be the 1st to admit that my once prodigious publishing output has slowed to a crawl for much of this Summer. I could easily point to the fact that where other bloggers often post some greasy talking-from-the-comfort-of-an-internet-cafe misinformed barbs, I actually do extensive research in my continued effort to provide the loyal Livestyle community with the unique brand of intelligent commentary that Y.O.U. have come to cherish over the years. To be sure, my "quality over quantity" approach to blogging is beyond repute, however, to reflexively rely on such an excuse without acknowledging my own shortcomings would be tantamount to "copping a plea", and I'm just not comfortable with doing shit like that homie. Y.O.U. and I both deserve better.

To that end, whilst the 2011 MTV V.ideo M.usic A.wards did take place nearly 2 long days ago, it would be most negligent of me to not weigh in on the annual collective celebrity self aggrandizing party that is this show with some of my signature editorialization. My general animus towards ALL award shows aside, it is my sworn duty to provide Y.O.U. with a brief rundown of all the pop-culture news that is fit to type ... lol.

Anyway, broadcasting live from the West Coast for the 3rd consecutive year (NOTE: An incredibly fortuitous feat of scheduling as this weekend was ALL about Hurricane-turned-limping-tropical-storm-Irene for those of us along the East Coast), the 2011 VMA's was as star-studded an event as any. Now, honestly, I did NOT watch the entire show. No, instead this entry has been cobbled together from a handful of Google searches in preparation for this post and the few performances that I did see when flipping back-and-forth from NFL Sunday Night Football. Don't hate.

Soooooooooooo, what did I learn this year boys and girls? Well, 1) Beyonce is pregnant by Jay-Z. This factoid came to my attention courtesy of my stompingly excited Facebook status newly informed girlfriend. Big whoops! I mean, I'm happy for them, but I don't care like that my nigga. 2) Lady Gaga might be well on her outrageous way to becoming as great a thespian as she is a singer. Her spirited rendition of stereotypical working class New York City every-man "Jo Calderone" made me laugh ... a little. 3) Britney Spears is back. Justin Beiber can't be stopped. And Nicki Minaj is styled by the drug LSD. Oh yeah, proud poppa to be Jay-Z and Kanye West performed "Otis" like 2 kids in a candy store and Lil Wayne closed out the show with "How To Love" and "John".

At the end of the day, as always, some people lost and some people won. A good time was had by all. Holla @ ya boy in BK!

The Supreme Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Collection = Tyler The Creator ... Tailored.

Preview The Entire Collection Online Here: Supremenewyork.Com

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Here before Y.O.U. I blog, a man in complete control of my enthusiasms. So, whilst longtime Livestyle devotees know all too well the utter contempt with which I once viewed the Supreme brand, I have softened my stance - indeed, having taken an attitude adjusting dose of Ex-Lax® if Y.O.U. will (Question: Too graphic? LOL.) - and can now appreciate the high priests of streetwear chic in all of their rightful glory.

Yes, they are a true school New York City born and bred clothing cartel responsible for flooding the streets with varying grades of dope since 1994. That Supreme predates pretentious hipsters current Johnny-come-lately crush on all things skateboard culture is a fact that has NEVER been lost on me. However, also not lost on me is my vigorous sense of self and my lust for aesthetic exploration. To put it in simpler terms, I aint trying to do what everybody else does b. That having been said, to deny myself the indulgence of wearing any particular brand merely because it has become the toast of the morally bankrupt Trendoid class would constitute a crime of the highest order. I would be, in effect, robbing myself! Who does that!? Nope, not me. If I do that, the terrorists win. LOL. To that end, while I still tread lightly on Supreme NYC grounds, it gives me great pleasure to introduce Y.O.U. to the Supreme Fall/Winter 2011-2012 Collection.

Dropping bright and early tomorrow morning this range is stuffed to the gills with fishscale quality goods (NOTE: I know, I know ... I always manage to work some drug references into my writings. Hey, as I've always said, putting "grams in grammar" is just what I do ... lol). Some of these items are no-brainers and some of them are no-gos ... lol. It is what it is. But, on the real, overall I fux with this collection hardbody karate.

Now, of course, str8 from central casting, the usual stars of the show are all here! You've got your 5-Panel camp hats and "box logo" hoodies to be sure, but, what most impresses me with this offering is that, even with ALL of the little HypeBeast kiddies watching, Supreme was not scared to grow! By far some of the best pieces in this collection are the logo-less peacoats, jackets and sweaters all of which represent a well-heeled step in the right direction that sacrifices none of Supreme's rugged identity. Me likey!

The hoodies and the t-shirts and the hats are good money - that's a given - but to limit one's self to so few choices in the face of such great diversity in design would just be fucking stupid. Y.O.U. don't need hella logos screaming your arrival all day, everyday my nig. Trust me, I've been giving it up on some fly shit since I was too young to fuck! LOL. Stop playing. This is Livestyle.

The Odd Future Is Now.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Fashionably late as I often am, I am just now arriving to the O.dd F.uture W.olfgang K.ill T.hem A.ll (NOTE: Hereafter to be referred to in the much easier abbreviated form "OFWGKTA") party. I can't front boy, I slept on these little niggas from Los Scandalous, Califor-ni-a.

Art is life (NOTE: Shout out to the homie Joe Hayes!) and life is cyclical, so, while I am old enough to remember Hip Hop "Horrorcore" (NOTE: Super gimmicky) and the previous work of other mentally fucked artists like Cage and MF Doom (NOTE: Super dope ... in very small doses), I welcome this new millennium next wave of audio anarchy.

Message To The Greater Livestyle Community: Ignore Tyler The Creator, Hodgy Beats and this Supreme NYC clad belligerent Boy's Club of America @ your own peril! You've been warned.

BONUS:

Check out Tyler The Creator's insane fuckin' video for "Yonkers". Trust me, it is NOT what Y.O.U. think it is.
