"Apparently not everyone is feeling the bite of the recession. A European mogul has commissioned luxury Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin to create a one-of-a-kind $6.5 million timepiece that will instantly become one of the world's most expensive watches. The design, which may take years to complete, will be many times more precious than Vacheron's Tour de l'Ile timepiece (above) created for the company's 250th anniversary in 2005. Only seven examples of the Tour de l'Ile timepiece, billed as the "world's most complicated double-faced watch", were made for an astounding $1.5 million apiece. A few more commissions of this sort and the luxury watch industry will have nothing to worry about."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: When a person truly develops a L.O.V.E. of fine watches, they begin to appreciate the sublime over the ostentatious. Now, I L.O.V.E. a good diamond bezel, but, as I've stated before, the top timepieces convey brilliance without stones and command attention without flash. I've spoken about a few hallowed watch companies here @ Livestyle, and will continue to do so, but, @ this point, I think that Y.O.U. are ready for a primer on Vacheron Constantin - the oldest uninterrupted watch manufacturer in the world and, accordingly, 1 of the most respected (if not indeed the most respected) watch companies in the world.
Founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1755 by Jean-Marc Vacheron and later paired up with international watch supplier François Constantin in 1819, Vacheron Constantin are the creators of "complications" and basically advanced the game for every fine watch maker to follow in their time tested footsteps.
Now, of course, the custom watch to be based on the Vacheron Constantin Tour d'Ile featured here carries a hefty price tag, but, in 1979, Vacheron Constantin released the 1-of-1 Kallista watch for a whopping $5 million homie. Today, that same watch with all of it's 118 emerald-cut diamonds and it's, "Look @ me. It took 6,000 hours with the best watchmakers and 20 months with the finest jewelers to make me." attitude is worth upwards of $11 million! Yikes! LOL.
Anyway, Vacheron Constantin's prices are not for the faint of heart OR the light of wallet, but, when Y.O.U. do get that fetti ready, Y.O.U. can and should holla @ somebody real ... lol. After all, real does recognize real, right? Right.
