New York City has always had a collectively rich history as a prolific basketball factory. You know, "Check out my swag yo/I walk like a ball player" ... lol. From the humble courts in the hood and the P.A.L. leagues, to the high schools and colleges, NYC gets it in. With that said, Rice High School is undoubtedly 1 school that has contributed more than it's fair share to this hallowed legacy.
Located in the heart of Harlem, Rice High School has produced a gang of great ballers. During my time, the word on the streets was all about the kid Phillipe Lopez. Son was the truth, although he never really did get the opportunity to fully realize his potential @ St. John's University OR upon entering the NBA.
Anyway, who knew that Mr. M.V.P. himself, Kobe Bryant, was an active sponsor of their basketball program AND that Nike would be releasing a limited edition pair of Hyperdunks in the school's colorway?
That's right, Nike x Foot Locker’s partnership store in Harlem, the House of Hoops (Which, coincidentally, is like a block away from Rice H.S.), plans to release these special edition Hyperdunks this Saturday, September 20th. I feel no need to explain the importance, rarity and the eBay investment potential associated with the purchase of a pair of kicks like these. Ok, Saturday September 20th, 2008 + the House of Hoops = Be there! You already know.
