"Large Professor Reacts To Illmatic Being Turned To Book

Hip Hop scholar, author and activist Dr. Michael Eric Dyson announced yesterday that he is currently writing a book on Nas' debut album Illmatic. CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Whilst Michael Erick Dyson sometimes strikes me as a smart guy prick that is passionately in L.O.V.E. with the sound of his own voice (or, in this case, his own writings), I would be interested to read an academic analysis of "Illmatic". Nas has never been very good with words outside of the booth, however, he can be a genius once he steps behind the mic.

Also, keep in mind, that Nas was like 19 or 20 when he started recording many of these records - to put that in perspective, Nas was around 17 or 18 years old when he penned his verse for Main Source's classic "Live @ The BBQ". Fast forward to 2008 and Soulja Boy (whom I do NOT hate) is now roughly the same age as Nas was when he 1st hit the scene - do you think that he has any profound statements to drop anytime soon ... like, ever? LOL. Yeah, kids are very different these days.
