The H&M Fall 2009 Men's Collection = Do Not Fear The Queer Looking Gear My Friends ... With The Proper Guidance, Real Niggas Can Wear This Too.

"Our friends at Fashionisto get their hands on the H&M Men’s Collection for Autumn 2009. In their words, “anything but surprising, H&M’s fall collection is impressive. The season stuns with a combination of stern edginess and refined chic. Coats are dark and militaristic in nature, while the sporadic appearance of florals and loose weave knits counter with softness.”

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: The juxtaposition of high fashion and street chic that unmistakably characterizes Livestyle can prove to be a difficult tune to sing for even the most talented brand name balladeers. For straight men this can pose a particular problem since homosexual hegemony recreates 99.5% of all collections in it's own limp wristed image ... lol. As such, I have always hoped that this blog and my musings contained herein might serve as a rudder - on each of your respective ships - to help Y.O.U. skillfully captain and navigate the murky waters of the trendy sea.

Just released, the H&M Fall 2009 men's collection is a prime example of the sort of sartorial obstacles that are regularly faced by fly niggas in this day-and-age. Both militaristic and minimalistic in it's approach, the new H&M's men's line showcases muted tones sprinkled with a few plaids and floral patterns here and there. Bueno. The way that this season is presented, however, may inhibit your ability to appreciate the dopeness that this season has to offer. No bueno. Trust me though, don't let the leather Scuba diver pants and various other forms of flagrant fuckery prevent Y.O.U. from checking out H&M's men's Fall 2009 range.

H&M makes amazing garments that, in moderation, can pull together any wardrobe without leaving your State I.D., a credit card and the Gucci Contralto card as the only remaining survivors of your latest wallet wipeout ... lol. Remember: when Y.O.U. stop shopping, the terrorists win.

Preview: American Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour Interview @ 60 Minutes Air Date: Sunday 05/17/09 @ 8PM EST = The Coldest Wintour Ever.

"Video: A Preview of Anna Wintour on 60 Minutes

60 Minutes is definitely airing the Anna Wintour piece they've been working on for the past six months this Sunday. And the news program just released the first footage of the editor in all of her glory, days away from the debut of the 12-minute segment. The 45-second scene shows Wintour with her staff, and it's just a preview of what's to come. And given that we've spied correspondent Morley Safer and his production team following around Anna at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in November, Fashion Week in New York, Milan, and Paris in February and March, and last week's Met gala, we can't wait to see the rest of the footage made it in the piece. But, alas, we'll have to wait until this Sunday at 7 p.m."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: To the ears of mere mortals, the very mention of the name Anna Wintour sounds like a Haute Couture hymn trumpeted from the heights of the Heavens ... or the depths of Hell, depending on whom Y.O.U. ask ... lol. Her legendary layout of a life lived in public, but, not of it, conjures up visions of days filled with vicious American Vogue editorial staff meeting lashings of her publishing peasants compliments of a custom made supple Italian leather Fendi brand cat O' nine tails whip balanced against Moët champagne flute noted nights spent spewing career making or breaking fashion reviews from her runway ruling class section perched alongside her gloriously extravagant P.artner N. C.rime and Vogue Editor-At-Large, André Leon Talley.

The personification of the frigid indifference and been-there-done-that-therefore-I-am-flyer-than-thou attitude that lesser executives, stylists and basic fashionphiles desperately attempt to affect and reflect in their comparatively unimpressive daily lives, Anna Wintour is the white widow whose spun silk wishes determine which of next seasons collections make it to the prized windows of such high end retailers as Bergdorf Goodman's and Saks. I mean, Anna Wintour was the inspiration for the Plum Sykes (NOTE: She is a former personal assistant of Ms. Wintour) bestseller "The Devil Wears Prada" which, when turned into a Hollywood feature cinematique, starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, a fashion editor widely believed to be based on Wintour.

Anyway, after over 20 years @ the helm of American Vogue (The flagship of the Vogue Magazine empire) as Editor-In-Chief, her material majesty - apparently now done with shunning the media and turning a pointed nose up @ the internet - permitted the esteemed 60 Minutes CBS T.V. news journal a once in a lifetime interview profiling her comings and goings atop the fashion world.

A concrete air-date has not been given, however, as the Sunday May 17th episode of 60 Minutes is the last offering before their Summer 2009 hiatus, this segment highlighting Anna Wintour and her elegant eminence has got to hit the screen NOW! DVRs: Ready. Set. Go!

Happy Mother's Day! A Belated Celebration For The O.G. M.aster O.f M.en AKA Mom's Rule!

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." ~Rajneesh

"All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his." ~Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest, 1895

"When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso." ~Pablo Picasso

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but
whose place no one else can take." ~Cardinal Mermillod

"The formative period for building character for eternity is in the nursery. The mother is queen of that realm and sways a scepter more potent than that of kings or priests." ~Author Unknown

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: An appreciation for the finer things in life *Cue Diddy Voice* "can't stop; won't stop" @ mere surface projections of mood and social modalities. Indeed, Livestyle (and basic good sense) dictates that a L.O.V.E. of family (NOTE: Blood and/or otherwise) ranks just below giving praise and glory to GOD - the luxurious trappings obtained when Y.O.U. flex your BUYceps and other monetary muscles, while very nice, rank a distant third homie. That having been said, Y.O.U. already know the special warm and insulated place reserved in my cold heart for Mother's Day. Yes, I am a "momma's boy" and I am damn proud of it!

Even today, nothing makes me more proud than to receive my mom's approval ... all I need is to see her smile. In between graham crackers and milk (NOTE: A growing boy needs his energy ... lol), my inner child still works tirelessly to create the perfect stale macaroni and Elmers© glue masterpiece for my #1 girl. I don't need to see it installed in the Louvre mom, the refrigerator will do.

A careless photoshoot scheduling conflict prevented me from actually spending this Mother's Day with my mommy or even posting an homage to all of the moms in my life here, but, never doubt that I am blessed and know well of the riches that have been bestowed upon me. Not only do I come from a brilliant biological lineage that I like to refer to as the "Sangre Royale", but, additionally, I am surrounded by phenomenal women - surrogate moms who lovingly guide me with a velvet glove, yet, would not hesitate to remove said glove and slap me with it if I played myself well out of pocket ... lol.

Listen, any sluttrampwhore whose Depo shot runs out can shove out a her demon spawn, but, not every child bearing female that is a "mother" is a mom. Remember that the next time that Y.O.U. forget your rubbers brother. I L.O.V.E. Y.O.U. mom. This is Livestyle.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Following the late, great Notorious B.I.G.'s untimely demise, "Life After Death" in the Hip Hop world took on an increasingly decadent and theatrical tenor that bordered on the comedic, yet, produced some iconic music and visuals. Whilst Biggie's brainchild The Commission (a trifecta comprised of himself, Charli Baltimore and Jay-Z) never had the chance to drop what would have undoubtedly been recognized as the pinnacle of RICO Act rap, Nas's supergroup The Firm had to take a bite out of crime ... lol.

The Firm concept was name dropped here-and-there on Nas's "It Was Written" album and then formally announced ala the brilliant movie trailer-like audio intro on Foxy Brown's debut "Ill Na Na". Originally the group was to include Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and a fresh-out-of-jail Cormega. Now, whether I forgot or simply never really cared, @ this time, I can't tell Y.O.U. exactly why Cormega was dishonorably discharged from the group. More or less, I subsribe to an entirely plausible scenario where Mega and Nas just bumped heads too many times in a struggle that would pit "Illmatic" talent against real nigga street codes. Nas was no longer the young phenomenon gazing from his "project window" @ the hustle that consumed his concrete Queensbridge kingdom (of which, by all accounts, Cormega was most definitely involved) and had instead evolved into being a "boss" in his own right. Whatever the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks happened, Cormega was out and Nature jumped right on in and rode this opportunity out until the wheels fell off.

The problem here is that the wheels fell off kind of early homie ... lol. Take 1 look @ the back of The Firm's album insert and you'll understand why - there were waaaaaaaaaaaay too many cooks in the kitchen my nigga. This album had more imprints than Ricky Hatton's face post fight ... lol. Everybody from Dr. Dre and The Trackmasters to the big homie Don Pooh had a hand in this album. Add Steve Stoute into the mix and the collision of egos and interests was too much to manage ... literally. Be that as it may, The Firm did drop some gems and, for better or worse (depending on whom Y.O.U. speak to), brought a fly ganxta Mafia-by-way-of-Hollywood social club aesthetic to the Hip Hop club. I mean, really, if Y.O.U. don't L.O.V.E. records like "Phone Tap" and "Affirmative Action", then, chances are that you're probably a fag ... lol.

The Firm album totally captures the unique confluenece of mob family values meets unabashed commercialism and over-the-top fashion whore consumerism that dominated much of the late 1990's Hip Hop scene; and it was all broadcast in brilliant Hype Williams directed Technicolor© splendor ... lol. Where the fuck are my O.G. Versace shades @ anyway? LOL. Good shit.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Aint no shame in my game. In Livestyle I have created a blog that espouses my beliefs with regard to good hood taste and rugged refinement - yes, this is the pearl handled pistol of blogs. Since it's inception, I have always envisioned that this blog could be a true agent of change to assist in counteracting much of the fuckery that contemporary pop culture promotes. Now, to simply take aim @ targets, shoot them down and leave Y.O.U. with gaping holes in your life would be highly irresponsible on my part; I have to offer up some alternatives. After all, I am Pro-Choice ... lol.

Enter: Denice Stone. In a market where, thanks to Antares© Auto-Tune™ technology, being able to actually sing in key has inexplicably become a detriment and "glam-squad" troops get paid time-and-a-half overtime for transforming beat hoodrats into almost dimes, a true marriage of talent and natural beauty is oh so hard to find. In these troubled times, it might serve us well to follow in the footsteps of big business and outsource some of our entertainment.

It is no secret that Canada is a running joke to most Americans, especially when it comes to recording artists, however, on the heels of Heartbreak Drake, the world is taking them Maple Leafs up north a bit more seriously right about now. With that in mind, ever the capitalist, my homie/entrepreneurial A-Alike China and his Catalyst Entertainment Group has just smuggled Denice Stone onto the scene and, on the real, shorty might just be the fucking best thing to come out of Canada since ketchup chips (What? Y.O.U. aint know?). An enchanting singer, songwriter and dancer blessed with I-could-drop-this-shit-and-model-anytime-that-I-want-to good looks, Denice Stone is a fresh face born for the limelight and is poised to fill in the blanks that lesser R&B acts have left behind.

This is only a teaser. Taking a non-conventional approach (for R&B) to promotion, Denice Stone takes a page out of the homie Trey Songz's book and flips the aforementioned Drake's über popular buzz builder of a record "Best I Ever Had" and makes it all her very own. Oh yeah, not to worry, this sexxxy lil lady aint afraid to get down and dirty either ... the cuss words are all in there on this SHE-mix ... lol. I eagerly await your feedback. Tell a friend to tell a friend and give this young lady the Livestyle bump that she needs. Holla @ ya boy in BK!
