CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: If Y.O.U. were truly fly during the mid 1990's, your footwear arsenal most likely included the obligatory multiple pairs of Air Jordans, some Construction "Cheese" and/or Field Boot "Beef & Broccoli" Timbs along with a good pair of Asics GEL sneakers. As I have mentioned in previous posts, thankfully, Hipsters and Retrosexuals have not ruined all of my earliest fashion passions and have largely left some outstanding brands alone. Case In Point: The Asics GEL model.

Sure, in the hopes of riding this retro wave to the sandy shores of resurgence island, companies like Asics have been botique bombing and dropping a gang of limited edition collaborations, however, they have yet to "jump the shark" and have managed to earn respect upon their return instead of becoming gimmicky parodies of their former selves. As such, these latest A.life R.ivington C.lub x Asics Summer 2009 collabos are a step in the right direction my nigga.

As always, Livestyle advocates a classic approach to fine clothing that emphasizes subtle contrast over bright ass Day-Glo attention whore colors. Basically, get dipped without looking like a dip shit ... lol. Holla @ ya boy in BK!

A.R.C. x Adidas Originals Stan Smith 80's = O.G. Cool Breeze.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: As previously discussed @ length in the pages of Livestyle, upon my breakthrough realization and acceptance of the fact that Nike Air Force 1 sneakers are considerably overpriced and, to add insult to cash reducing injury, are only really good for 1-3 wears, I reenlisted the talents of the venerable vintage footwear Adidas Stan Smith model as my casual sneaker of choice and I have never looked back.

Named after former pro-tennis star Stan Smith, this early marquee match up of professional athlete and major international sporting goods company gave birth to this classic model waaaaaaaaaay back in 1971.

Now, their have been some good and not-so-good interpretations of the Stan Smith model over the years; my favorites being those that remain true to it's elementary style components and functionality that give these kicks play from grass courts to clay hombre.

That having been said, the brain trust over @ A.life R.ivington C.lub did the right thing as opposed to the bright thing and gave these 1st releases from the "3Way Consortium" collection limited edition A.R.C. x Adidas Stan Smith 80's the once over without O.D.'ing on the bells and whistles ... lol. Clean and mean. Good shit.

A-Life Rivington Club x Mitchell & Ness Collabo Varsity Jacket = Too Cool For School.

"Alife Rivington Club and seminal sportswear brand Mitchell & Ness recently got together to collaborate on one of the labels signature items, the Varsity jacket. Done in black and white, with either purple or red highlights, the jackets represent both brands rather nicely. A great piece for the Winter season."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS:  Sometimes, although I might respect and adore a particular brand and their work, I still will rarely wear any of their garments.  My deliberate decision to shun such labels usually comes from an accute disdain for the type of people who wear the brand rather than any actual problem with the brand itself.  Case In Point:  A-Life Rivington Club.

Much like Supreme (which still, through heavy product quantity control, manages to keep 99% of their items über exclusive) and Crooks & Castles, A-Life Rivington Club doesn't typically pique my interest because it, along with the other aforementioned brands, has become the "go-to" shit - indeed a hipster "starter kit" of sorts - for any lame-o looking to buy his or her way into the "Downtown" scene.  Livestyle is all about exclusivity, so I will always elect to go with the less than obvious choice.

With that said, these ARC x Mitchell & Ness collabo varsity jackets are simply too good to ignore my nigga.  1) I L.O.V.E. varsity jackets and 2) the attention to detail, from the "158" on the sleeve (a clear nod to A-Life's 158 store address on Rivington Street in Lower Manhattan) to the overall construction of these jackets is sure to be on point fuckin' with a classic sportswear company like Mitchell & Ness.

A-Life consistently has flavorful pieces, but this release could be a real game changer for me.  Stay tuned.
