The Gucci For Jay-Z "Decoded" Leather Bomber Jacket = Will The REAL Gucci Mane Please Stand Up.

"Italian luxury house Gucci is partaking in the global scavenger hunt organized by Jay-Z and search engine Bing in advance of the rapper’s book release.

The innovative marketing campaign physically placed pages from Jay Z’s memoir Decoded in various venues meaningful to the hip hop impresario, including the Delano Hotel in Miami and the Spotted Pig restaurant in New York.

Clues as to where pages were hidden were regularly revealed on the singer’s Facebook and Twitter pages as well as on a dedicated Bing website.

Last week, Gucci unveiled two of the book’s pages in the storefront windows of its Fifth Avenue flagship in New York.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini fabricated a special leather bomber jacket for the occasion with text from two pages of the book printed on its lining.

The jacket will remain on display until November 16 when the book goes on sale and will subsequently be gifted to Jay-Z.

Featuring an image of Andy Warhol’s ‘Rorschach’ on the cover, Decoded is a memoir of the multi-platinum artist from his rough childhood in the Brooklyn projects to his music stardom."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Be careful what Y.O.U. wish for, because Y.O.U. just might get it! Although such a well worn idiom (NOTE: Allegedly derived from an ancient edition of Aesop's Fables wherein a lowly man impulsively wishes for death) sits perilously perched atop Mount Cliché, this most famous of clichés is just that because it's moral is timeless. To that end, Hip Hop has long had an infatuation with the greater pop-culture @ large, the overly romanticized view of an outsider whose failure to gain acceptance was both frustrating and perversely validating.

That was then, this is now.

Today, Hip Hop's collective rebel yell has been roundly reduced to sappy emo-filled status updates and most, if not all, have traded in the legacy of the Black Panthers for black diamonds. For this too I am guilty. I do NOT see this as ALL b-a-d though. Livestyle is steeped in the grand belief that an aspirational lifestyle need not be simply "wine and roses" and is only truly valuable when matched with an optimum standard of intellectual curiosity and a strong code of ethics. Jay-Z, in my esteemed opinion, has become 1 of the best, though clearly humanly flawed, examples of this new dichotomy. From corner boy to papered up occupant of a corner office, the man born Shawn Corey Carter has invited all to join him in his modified Maybach Tour Bus (NOTE: Patent pending ... lol) and chauffeured us to the promise land. Of course, not everyone is pleased.

While pilloried for losing some of his technical lyrical prowess and biting (NOTE: If not gumming his way in his old, by narrow Hip Hop standards, age) through the late, great Notorious B.I.G.'s catalogue) en route to success, I simply can't knock the homie's hustle. Now, if Y.O.U. are of a more political slant like, say, a group like Dead Prez (NOTE: Whom Jay-Z has recorded with, although he didn't make the video. Wack.), I could stomach the hate a lot easier. If you're not concerned with money or, for that matter, the trappings of fame, Jay-Z is probably NOT your idea of a leader. Cool. However, for all other money grubbing rappers with obnoxiously ostentatious bars stocked with millionaire wishes, Jay-Z is your living and breathing motherfucking precedent! Respect the game.

Anyway, on the eve of the release of his autobiography/choice verses translation tome, "Decoded", NOT so Young Vito has done it again with this 1-of-1 Gucci "Decoded" Leather Bomber Jacket. Yup, Gucci's lovely creative director, Frida Giannini, crafted this special jacket lined in satin with 2 pages from Jay-Z's book to especially to celebrate this momentous occasion! The scavenger hunt clue jacket is on display now until tonight @ New York City's 5th Avenue flagship Gucci store. Once the book goes on sale, this jacket is a goner ... lol.

Sooooooooooooo, how much is this collector's item supreme Y.O.U. ask? Good question, but, it doesn't matter ... this is a personal gift to Jay-Z from the good people @ Gucci! Whaaaaaaaat!? How Y.O.U. L.O.V.E. that? Holla @ ya boy in BK!

BONUS:

The above image is a complete listing of the 36 venerable songs deconstructed in "Decoded". For those counting, YES, that is indeed the equivalent of 2.2 pounds of uncut dope boy poetry! Bon Appétit!

"Niggas Just Don't Know How Shit Got To Go ... In The City Of New York Where Brooklyn Brothers Stalk"

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: As previously mentioned here in the information rich pages of Livestyle, the shortcomings of Lil Dap and Malachi The Nutcracker as lyricists is the stuff of Hip Hop lore. In fact, as Group Home, they are rivaled only by U-God in sheer lack of MC ability (NOTE: The power rankings that govern the accepted unflattering public opinions of Group Home and U-God were accounted for and compiled during the B.efore G.ucci Mane era and would, obviously, become eligible for an immediate re-forecasting of brackets if reviewed according to today's waning musical standards). Interestingly enough, both Group Home and U-God were brought onto the scene by legendary producers (NOTE: DJ Premier and The RZA respectively) whom subsidized these painfully inept artists's careers by regularly overcompensating for them in the beat department and inexplicably including them on projects that they clearly had NO business being a part of. I guess that's what talented friends are for. LOL.

In any event, for this entry, with specific regard to Group Home, as harsh as my assessment of their individual "skills" may be, I would be a liar of epic proportions to front like they, shouldered by a Primo in his creative prime, were not responsible for some of my all time favorite *Cue Dancehall Reggae DJ Voice* "chunes" from the mid 1990's.

These guys were all heart. This gritty slice of minimalist Brooklyn realism is entitled "So Called Friends" and was produced by the late, great Guru of Gangstarr. If my encyclopedic Hip Hop memory serves me right - and it does - this joint was actually Group Home's demo which later appeared on the "Guru Presents: Ill Kid Records" compilation from 1993. Nobody makes music like this anymore! Know the ledge.

NEW MUSIC: Drake Re-Up!

Streaming Audio/Download Link: Timbaland Ft. Drake - Say Something

Streaming Audio/Download Link: Drake - King Leon

Streaming Audio/Download Link: Drake Ft. Gucci Mane - Believe It Or Not

Now, this is unexpected. I've heard of "wake and bake" (NOTE: Shout out to all of my peoples that smoke that good), but, this surprise Saturday morning new music leakage is what I'd like to call "Wake And Drake" ... lol. Simply put, Say Something is by far my favorite track I've heard in awhile. Maybe I L.O.V.E. it because it hits so close to home and almost sounds too real. As for the other 2, I'm still on the fence. But Gucci? Really Drake? That's random. Probably because I'm not a Gucci Mane fan and never will be. It is what it is. That's my peace.

Young Jeezy Talks Shooting The Upcoming "As Real As It Gets" Video With Jay-Z @ MTV.Com.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Yes, the full court press associated with the release of any good mainstream album has become that much more indispensable in this disposable digital age and the media blitz is clearly in full effect for Young Jeezy's forthcoming "Thug Motivation 103" project.

Expect the visual for Jay-Z's "As Real As It Gets" featuring the Snowman to flash the high beams on his highly anticipated album and, in return, expect "Young Jizzle With The Stamp In The Middle" to handle his big homie's light work and dust off Gucci Mane for his recent surely drug-induced blasphemous outburst questioning Young Vito's placement atop MTV's, admittedly, flawed "Hottest MC's In The Game 2009" list. There will be blood - word to Daniel Plainview.

Drake Re-Up: Let's Talk Gucci Mane, Lebron x Lola Luv AKA How To Lose A Chicago Girl In 10 Minutes.

Drake, baby, what are Y.O.U. doing? Smh. At first I was a little confused. Y.O.U. can't blame me. This has got to be the most low budget "show" E.V.E.R. But Hey! "I get it in OHIO! and none the less, I hear what he's saying. "The game needs change", and he's "the maf*ckin cashier!" At this point in time, Drake is trying to establish his credibility with his new found followers/fans/groupies or what have Y.O.U. Now, do NOT get it twisted people - I, Aisha Ali, have been around since Comeback Season and prior. Go do your research kids. But he lost me with all of this Gucci Mane business. "I think I love her." How can Y.O.U. relate? I wrote Gucci off after he knocked out ol girl on STAGE!

Whoa. Lebron. "Mentality of a Leader.." Y.E.S. "Potential to be..the greatest player the NBA has ever seen." Now Y.O.U. my friend are killing me! I am and forever will be a diehard Jordan fan. And for Y.O.U. to even attempt to dispute that, is a disgrace. Stop sneaking sips from your B-O-S-S Lil Wayne's styrofoam cup homie.

Oh yeah, the list of female friends that he fancies is weak to say the least. No bueno. And, for the record, NO it is not because I'm not on it ... lol. I'll pull a Peyton Manning and PASS. I don't know, maybe Y.O.U. boys can understand. Note to Drizzy: Make your next move your best move, or Y.O.U. just might lose me.
