"The above is the second collaboration between New Balance and Spanish store 24 Kilates, and will be released as the second shoe of the Modernism Pack. 24 Kilates is paying tribute to legendary Catalan artists through this Modernism Pack which began April 2008 with the New Balance 1700, inspired by architect Antoni Gaudi. This particular NB was inspired by Joan Miró, who also served as the inspiration for the Miró Air Jordan VII. This black based sneaker features green, yellow, red, and blue accents on the uppers and outsole which resembles much of Miró’s colorful art. 24 Kilates has announced that these will release on April 4th, 2009."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Sadly, in the rush to be retro, many people overlook once formidable brands in lieu of taking the easy cheesy way out. Much like the recently featured MCM label, New Balance is criminally under represented in today's market. If all goes well though, these 24 Kilates x New Balance 1500 Miró (Modernism Pack) kicks (set to release on April 4th, 2009) can find anchor just below a few ankles and help to reestablish this company's name in the hood.
Inspired the works of the late, great Spanish Catalan painter Joan Miró i Ferrà, this New Balance and 24 Kilates collabo borrows some of his Surrealist aesthetic and, more noticeably, his knack for splashes of color - think of Miro's "Harlequin's Carnival", except for your feet. Although I am famously averse to the tacky trend of 64 Color Crayola® Crayon box (with the sharpener) looking attention whoring, I fuxs with these kicks - the black base of the sneaker highlights the other various colors while simultaneously acting as a neutralizing agent to prevent shit from getting too damn loud ... lol. Good shit.
