"As with many apparel labels and designers this season, Mishka finally succumbed to the “Obama Fever” and set to release a Barack Obama theme t-shirt, in honor of next week’s inaugural event. However, in Mishka’s classic attitude of defiance, the label will issue its Bootleg Black Bart T-Shirt. Feature a Matt Groening-style graphic, with Bart Simpson’s more rambunctious cousin, Black Bart and the likeness of Young Jeezy and the President-elect. The graphic subtly convey Mishka’s disdain for conventionalism and poke fun at the current status quo. The Mishka Bootleg Black Bart T-Shirt will be available exclusively at Mishka’s online store starting the Friday, January 16th.
Release Date: January 16th (Friday)"

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Scene: Summer 1992-1993. Any city USA. The Simpsons have catapulted from rudimentary sketches on the Tracey Ullman show into full blown phenomena mode following the success of their own television series. Everybody was all, "Don't have a cow man!" and "Aye Carumba!" ala Bart Simpson. As Always, the inventive souls that we are, the hood had to put it's own distinct spin on the show's favorite character and introduced such memorable street fair bootleg t-shirts such as "Black Bart" (made famous for his "It's a Black thing, you wouldn't understand" line), the Rastafarian "Bart Marley" and the DC Comics cease-and-desist order warranting "Bart Man". End scene.
Yes, those were glorious times for bootleggers as $3 cassette tapes and Tupac inspired t-shirts emblazoned with the lyrics, "I get around" made the rounds throughout the streets of every major city in America.
Today, on the eve of the election of our 1st Black President, New York based streetwear company Mishka has revamped the Black Bart theme and added Young Jeezy and President Elect Barack Obama into the mix for their limited edition Black Bart Obama-09 Bootleg T-shirt.
While I can already imagine how some people may find this caricature offensive, I urge Y.O.U. to put your hyper sensitive selves on chill for a minute and be cool fool. Have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up! Everybody else, enoy this t-shirt and, most importantly, get prepared for the Barack Obama era starting January 20th, 2009. Y.O.U. gotta L.O.V.E. it.
