The 1st Obama State Dinner Makes The Washington x Hollywood Elite Pitch A Tent!

"The most sought-after invitation in Washington -- for Tuesday's state dinner for the prime minister of India, the first state dinner hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle -- arrived in the mail a little over a week ago. But no one is complaining about the short notice. Some 400 guests are expected for the party, the most elaborate entertaining the First Couple have done to date.

The White House does not have a room to handle a crowd that size, so a massive tent has been constructed on the South Lawn to accommodate the guests. The invite itself is a keepsake: a cream-colored card embossed with a gold presidential seal and black text:

The President and Mrs. Obama request the pleasure of the company of Mr. _____ at a dinner in honor of His Excellency Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, and Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, to be held at The White House on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at seven o'clock.

At the bottom is the dress code -- black tie -- and the words "East entrance," a reference to the East Wing of the White House, which is used for almost all social functions.

The White House has been preparing for this dinner for months, culling names for the invite list (finalized a month ago, a White House source told me) and deciding on the menu, flowers, china, and an unending list of logistical details. Overseeing all this is Mrs. Obama's East Wing, with Social Secretary Desiree Rogers putting on her most anticipated show yet."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Take 1 tiny step outside of the Hip Hop world today and Y.O.U. will be struck by the fever pitch buzz surrounding the Obama administration's 1st State Dinner.

Although this event is expressly in honor of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the import of this fabulous fete has dovetailed into the "got-to-be-there" party of this young holiday season. The most sought-after invite in Washington, tonight's dinner is as much about Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as it is about the White House rewarding their most powerful fundraisers and supporters - Hollywood fancy pants such as former DreamWorks partners David Geffen, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg; Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Michael Lynton and WME Entertainment Agency Co-CEO Ari Emanuel (The man whom "Ari Gold" is patently based on from HBO's Entourage series and the brother of Barack Obama advisor and confidant, Rahm Emanuel). Yeah, and Y.O.U. thought that Diddy's "40th" birthday bash last week was exclusive! LOL.

Soooooooooooo, now, I know that you're inevitably asking yourself, "Will Chris Live AKA Shaker be there tonight?", right? Right. Sadly though, the answer is no. My invite surely must have been lost in the mail. Oh well, there goes the mailman's Christmas tip! LOL. Good shit.
