CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Livestyle is dedicated to providing readers with an expertly curated view of enduring style. To that end, I have the utmost respect and appreciation for strong brand identities and, when such singular excellence is threatened by ill-advised associations, I am forced to reconsider my patronage of the product in question. Case In Point: PRO-Keds®.
With a rich hoopin' heritage that extends back to 1949, when Dame Dash purchased this company in the early 2000's, I was afraid that his septic tank of wack juice would overflow and warp this labels legendary leather. Thankfully, Dame Dash relinquished this company in a corporate fire sale and sold it back to Stride Rite in Spring of 2008 and PRO-Keds® has not missed a step since.
This highlight from their Spring 2010 Collection, the PRO-Keds® Royal Plus Hi Leather Sneakers offer a welcome return to the classics with just the right hint of subtle luxury that makes us fashion snobs swoon ... lol. Nope, there's not much to see here homie and THAT'S a beautiful thing. Drop a Benji on these and thank me later. Good shit.
