CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Given my recent low output of posts, new adherents to the Livestyle order of greater refinement might wrongly assume that this destination is nothing more than an online shrine dedicated to new Hip Hop music and random scantily clad women. Thank GOD for my rich archives which chronicle a time before computer troubles ... lol.
Now, while it is most certainly true that Livestyle features it's fair share of up-to-the-minute music releases and freaky female teases, they are but components in our overall mission to celebrate joie de vivre @ it's finest. Anybody who's been reading this exceptional blog for more than a month knows that I have a luxury addiction that transcends mere popular label names and can only be satisfied by forgoing the "hype" and successfully identifying the "best of the best" regardless of price. It's about time that I get back to posting that next tax bracket fly shit, right? Right. I knew that Y.O.U. would agree.
Although I only own 2 high end timepieces (NOTE: And with the help of my partner in white collar crime, China, am currently working on my stainless steel Rolex Yachtmaster) I truly adore the art of watchmaking. I have come to appreciate the intricate complications almost as much, if not more so, than the polished faces that disguise them. Of course diamonds are nice, but the mechanisms that drive these mortgage busting tickers is where the REAL money is! The good people @ Blancpain know exactly what I'm talking about.
Founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jaques Blancpain, this storied Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches has survived its ups and downs to once again reemerge in 2010 as a premiere horological firm. Strict traditionalists, Blancpain has never produced watches with quartz movements OR a digital display. Watch enthusiasts have rewarded Blancpain's diligence with their papered up patronage and, now, Blancpain wishes to return the favor with the grand gesture that is the limited edition Blancpain "Fifty Fathoms" Flyback Chronograph Complete Calendar.
A favorite of legendary deep-sea diver and marine life champion Jacques Cousteau AND the preferred watch of the U.S. Navy circa 1964, the "Fifty Fathom" watch has been stylishly updated without sacrificing 1 iota of the functionality that brought it to prominence.
Although technically a "Dive" watch, Blancpain advertises this model as a "yachting watch" - which is much more accurate considering all of the complications in this baby. This 45mm steel cased beauty features the Blancpain in-house 66BF8 automatic calibre handmade movement and a "grand calendar" that's got everything from the day-and-date to a moonphase indicator. Niiiiiiiiiiice.
Yes, this column-wheel chronograph is a bit busy on the dial what with all of the extra functions and what not, however, it's got the right amount of sex appeal to seal the deal ... lol. It's a Mediterranean BLUEtiful thing!

Gotta admit cuz, I'm not much on jewelry or whatnot, but this watch is ridiculously sick. I'm liking this a lot. The fact that the Navy and Mr. Jeaque like it seals the deal for me. Functionality is the name of the game for me. If they like it I'm sold.
