The Air Jordan VI (6) Infared = 6 Million Ways To Die ... Choose This 1.

(Special Shout Out To Barris @ Osneaker.Com For The Heads Up On This Release)
"The Air Jordan brand has announced a historic shoe release scheduled for January 2010. The Air Jordan VI (6) Infared is scheduled to make it’s re-debut. Originally released in 1991, the Jordan VI caught on like wildfire by becoming the first shoe Michael Jordan wore to win an NBA championship. It became the shoe of choice for basketball and leisurely wear during the early 90’s. Nine years later Nike decided to retro the shoe and released it in the summer of 2000. This shoe has developed a cult following and is highly in demand by the sneaker community. 10 years after it’s retro release this shoe will be available for sneakerheads to purchase for $150. Gradient Magazine got a sneak peak at these amazing shoes before they make their re-debut.

Release Date - January 2010
Style# - 384664-061
Colorway - Black/Varsity Red"

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: While I am not as great a subscriber to the science of numerology as, say, a Jackie Stallone (NOTE: Yes, Sly's mama mia ... lol), the fact that Michael "Air" Jordan won his 1st of 6 NBA Championships while wearing his Air Jordan VI (6) Infrared signature sneaker is simply too significant of an event for me not to mention.

Anyway, since somewhere around 1986 the slum gold road to riches had been fully paved with off-white colored bricks and, by 1991 (when these kicks were originally released), not only had Air Jordan risen to the top of his game, but, many street peddlers had as well - 1980's/1990's pop culture and block culture are inextricably linked kid. Walk with me.

In particular, the Air Jordan VI (6) Infrared model is a touchstone in my personal history of enduring style as they were my 1st begged-for-and-successfully-acquired-through-a-deferred-allowance-and-chores-payment-plan pair of Airs. Previously re-released in 2000, these are 1 of the few Air Jordan retros that I must have.

Fast forward to 2009 and, as mentioned in earlier auspicious posts here @ Livestyle, today, my road to the riches is paved with pavé stones ... so, it's only right that I lace up these O.G. gems homie. January 2010 release date Y.O.U. say? I. Can't. Wait.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS:

Dear Stalker Chick,

"I Can't Help It" ... "The Way You Make Me Feel", it's "Human Nature". These "B.A.D." "Dirty Diana"'s "Drive Me Wild" when they "Give It To Me". "Remember The Time" "Another Part Of Me" wanted to "Rock With You"? Y.O.U. are not the "Lady In My Life" ... we're "Just Good Friends". Honestly, Y.O.U. should just "Leave Me Alone". Anyway, I've gotta "Jam" because my girlfriend is "Dangerous", seriously, she's "Off The Wall" - she likes to "Scream". She'll "Wanna Be Startin' Something" and I don't want there to be "Blood On The Dance Floor".

Sincerely,

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER

HEARTBREAKING NEWS: Michael "The King Of Pop" Jackson Has Died AKA R.I.P.: Long Live The King.

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Obviously, almost 24 hours after the fact, the untimely sudden death of the world’s most recognized superstar, Michael Jackson, is no longer “breaking news”. I read the same early messages on Twitter announcing his cardiac arrest, coma and finally his passing as I trust many of Y.O.U. had, however, rather than play who-can-update-their-blog-the-fastest, I had to A) Get a real news outlet to officially confirm this tragedy and B) Honestly, I had to let the shock settle in.

Although, in the words of 1 of my favorite preeminent authors, Dream Hampton, Michael Jackson had long ago committed “racial suicide” by way of vehemently denied yet clear to everybody massive surgical body disfigurement, I still had L.O.V.E. for the homie. Before Michael Jackson became a ghastly shell of his former cuddly self, he dominated the music charts and the hearts of millions of fans worldwide. Check this out: If Y.O.U. are over the age of 26 and did not have a red or black “Beat It” 100 zipper leather jacket with removable sleeves and/or songs like “P.Y.T.”, “Billie Jean” and the aforementioned “Beat It” don’t send Y.O.U. into an immediate dance floor frenzy, then I must question when Y.O.U. became cool enough to enjoy this blog and, moreover, whether or not Y.O.U. actually had any real childhood to speak of @ all. Before I wanted to be like Big Daddy Kane and Rakim, I wanted to be like Mike.

We all know the countless molestation accusations levied against him and, whilst never convicted, c’mon … he had to have touched some of them kids. Sadly though, I believe Michael Jackson to be as much of a victim in his own right as well – of his father’s frustrated ambition channeled through his sons, The Jackson 5, of his unparralleled fame, his childlike innocence and ultimately of his compulsions. He was a freak AND he was a freakin’ genius – a beautifully complex dichotomy that confused, amused and thrilled us all. For better or worse, there will never ever be another like Michael Joseph Jackson. Hey, he even made Jay-Z a fan boy for a day … lol. GOD bless Michael Jackson's soul and give the entire Jackson family righteous resolve in their time of need. Moonwalk.

The Ralph Lauren Polo Varsity V-Neck Cotton Cardigan = If Summer Never Comes.

Available Online Here: Ralphlauren.Com

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: The truth is that, as the month of June draws to a close, the last thing that I should be shopping for is a knit cardigan. However, if Y.O.U. live on the East Coast of the US of A, and particularly if Y.O.U. call New York City home, Y.O.U. know that it's been all rain and no sign of Summer for far too long - so, forgive me if my material mind has temporarily wandered elsewhere.

As a man, Summer doesn't offer me much to sport other than fresh kicks and overpriced t-shirts that I-will-wear-for-the-next-few-weeks-and-then-unceremoniously-stuff-into-storage-bins-or-give-to-the-Salvation-Army come September, making it all the more easier for me to fall for this Ralph Lauren Polo Varsity V-Neck Cotton Cardigan.

By no stretch of the imagination does the beautifully detailed Varsity letter "P" that adorns this piece qualify as any member of the coveted "P-Wing" family, but, this new sweater does fit the bill as Ralph Lauren continues to flirt with it's iconic logo laden past. Are there any new bears on the horizon? Maybe a Wall Street banker bear in recognition of the captains of industry that negligently navigated us into this current recession perhaps? LOL. Stop playing.

Let's not even discuss my non-vintage selection of high end garments. I do it all! *Cue Jay-Z Voice* "True story, my closet is 2 stories".)

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Over the weekend a dream was realized. In an effort to better chronicle my life and my art, I have long desired to produce a photoshoot that would capture me and my vintage collection of Ralph Lauren Polo, Coca Cola, Benetton and Iceberg (NOTE: Before they went pop) in all of our eat-your-grubby-little-80's-rabies-babies-trendoid-hearts-out Brooklyn O.G. splendor.

Well, thanks to the homie Curt@!ns and his interest in profiling my sentimental fashion sensibility and the classic threads that I L.O.V.E. for his brilliant blog, I now have some pictures of my very own that I can do whatever the fuck I want with! LOL. Aint life grand? Shout out to the homie Torch HSL on the photography side and shout to my-brother-from-another-mother Mr. 401 K for holding me down. Don't let the retrosexuals with the blonde streaks and the yeast infection inducing/sperm count reducing skin tight jeans fool ya. When it comes to this fly shit: Accept. No. Substitutes. The Spring/Summer 2010 Converse x Missoni Premium "Chuck" Hi Sneakers = GOD Bless This Mess!

"The latest high-low collaboration involves Italian line Missoni and sneaker maker Converse. WWD reports that at Saturday's Missoni menswear show in Milan in addition to the fashion on the runway showing Angela Missoni's spring/summer 2010 line, attendees got a first look at the Premium Chuck Hi Missoni which were worn by Tai Missoni. The sneakers will be part of the spring/summer 2010 line. Converse has done lines with many designers including Thome Browne."

Information Courtesy Of: Luxist.Com

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Admittedly, these are NOT the most attractive sneaker collaborations to catch my ever discerning eye, however, I hold a V.I.P. special place in my cold heart for Missoni.

It all started when Coogi was the craze and paid men and women rocked that Australian brand's expensive wear from head-to-toe (Shout out to my sister-from-another-mister Shaka Don ... the story of her incredible life is coming soon!). See, while I had the requisite Coogi sweaters necessary to meet my New York City late 1990's Hip Hop head requirements, as their popularity grew, I yearned for something more ... something more exclusive. See, Livestyle is an exquisite ideology that predates this blog - I have always wanted the best of everything. Enter: Missoni.

Created by Ottavio "Tai" Missoni and Rosita Missoni in 1953, this forward thinking modern Italian fashion house has made quite a name for itself as a firm that specializes in unique knitwear made of vibrant colors and whimsical patterns. So, when I wanted some wild unconventional knits without the Harlem-World-circus-clown look, I dipped into Century 21 and copped my 1st Missoni - the rest is history.

Although the 2 pictured releases from the new Converse x Missoni Premium "Chuck" Hi designer sneaker collection aren't really doing it for me, my respect for the Missoni name has convinced me to withhold judgement until I see their entire concept range. Hey, it's the least that I can do. Holla @ ya boy in BK!

The Air Jordan I (1) Emerald Green/Sea Green "Do The Right Thing" 20th Anniversary Pack = Better Than Sal's Pizza!

Information Courtesy Of: Osneaker.Com

Available Online Here: Osneaker.Com

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: First of all, do Y.O.U. mean to tell me that it has already been 20 years since Rosie "Tina" Perez jump started my puberty as I watched Spike "Mookie" Lee run ice cubes around her pert nipples!? Really? Where does the time go? Anyway, in the years since this contemporary classic film was released (NOTE: A film which articulated a raw inner-city angst that threatened to consume us all years before the L.A. riots following the heinous Rodney King trial verdict), both Spike Lee and the Air Jordan sneaker have become legendary pop culture staples in their own rights.

Spike Lee has worked tirelessly to carve out a creative niche that demystifies the "Black Experience" for a largely mainstream audience and, in the process, humanizes us all in the eyes of 1 another. In the case of the sneakers, well, on his way to becoming the greatest basketball of all time (NOTE: Sorry Kobe. You're great brother, but, come on ... lol), Michael "Air" Jordan elevated not only his game and the entire sport of basketball, but, also his signature shoe to icon status. Yes, The Air Jordan I (1) Emerald Green/Sea Green release from the "Do The Right Thing" Pack commemorating the 20th Anniversary of this cinematic masterpiece is truly Heroin Chic.

The O.G. Air Jordan model represented "dope boy fresh" back when a young hustler could make an honest million via Nynex® corner payphones and pagers and movies like "Do The Right Thing" got shot up @ The Kenmore Theatre on Church Avenue in Brooklyn USA. Ohhhhhhhhhh, the good old days! LOL. Snatch up these limited edition dandies for old times sake and, if they should ever get dirty, just break out the good toothbrush and get to scrubbin' homie - it's the American Way. This is Livestyle.
