The Über Limited Edition Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar “Boutiques Exclusive” = Sporty Spice.

"Vacheron Constantin released an Overseas Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. This is the first ‘high complications’ in the Overseas collection and immediately a superb looking one. Sporty, complicated and sophisticated.

The Overseas is Vacheron Constantin’s ‘sporty’ collection and up till now existed of three versions, the ‘normal’ Overseas (time and date), the Overseas Dual Time (well, the name explains the complication) and the Overseas Chronograph featuring a big date. This new Vacheron Constantin combines two complications, a perpetual calendar and a chronograph. Gosh… I really like it!

The Overseas Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is exclusively for the Vacheron Constantin boutiques and comes in a steel case with a titanium bezel. Earlier I blogged about the Overseas Steel and Titanium collection. The Steel and Titanium models were added to the Overseas collection in 2009, featuring a slate grey dial and come on a grey alligator leather or rubber straps.

All models in the Overseas collection come in a generous 42 mm case that is water-resistant to 15 bar (approximately 150 metres). The steel case incorporates a soft iron cage protecting the mechanical movement from magnetic fields. The screw-down caseback features a medallion engraved with the famous Amerigo Vespucci three-masted sailing ship. If you think this ship looks familiar, you’re correct. It was also engraved on the case back of the Panerai PAM 82 – Amerigo Vespucci.

Inside the Overseas collection ticks calibre 1136 QP, comprising of no less than 228 parts. The automatic caliber beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 40 hours. The movement also powers the chronograph as well as the perpetual calendar indicating the day of the week, the date, and the month (on a 48-year cycle), complete with leap-year display and moon phases.

The Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar “Boutiques Exclusive” is delivered with two straps: one in black vulcanised rubber and the other in dark grey alligator leather with a folding clasp.

Only 80 pieces will be available in the 27 Vacheron Constantin boutiques worldwide. The price is around 41,000 CHF before tax."

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Occasionally, a heretofore unexplored combination of elements will come together so staggeringly brilliantly that it forces all onlookers to ask in a collective gasp of awe, "Why hadn't they done this sooner!?". I mean, that's exactly how I felt upon laying my eyes on the brand new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar “Boutiques Exclusive”.

In what now clearly seems like a "no brainer" move, the talented timekeeping tinkerers @ this legendary Swiss Manufacture d'horlogerie (NOTE: That's stuffy French talk for "Watchmaking manufacturer" to Y.O.U. suckaaaaaaaas! LOL.) have taken the bold, yet instantly recognizable as practical, step of pairing 2 master complications - a perpetual calendar and a chronograph - for this sporty prestige watch.

Limited to a diminutively short run of a mere 80 watches to strictly be sold in the 27 Vacheron Constantin boutiques worldwide, this 42mm wide, brushed steel and titanium bezeled beauty could very well be a progressive watch collector's dream come true ... If they can get their hands on it ... lol. Good shit!
