Happy Cinco De Mayo 2010!

CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Although the true origins of Cinco De Mayo as proud holiday commemorating the Mexican Militia's unlikely defeat of French forces @ The Battle Of Puebla waaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1862 now serves as a historical coaster for ice cold bottles of Corona® and shots of cheap Tequila, this year, the celebration has taken on renewed significance. Yes, in the face of the bill recently passed in Arizona that essentially legalizes the profiling of all "illegals" (READ: Latinos) and authorizes law enforcement to hunt down, arrest and deport families, good people across the country have taken to the streets to side with our Brown brothers and sisters.

Look, I am all for immigration reform and believe that our borders should be better managed and protected, however, the isolated criminalization of poor people who are actively lured here by crooked businesses looking for cheap and disposable labor is a slur upon our society that none of us can afford to ignore. It is said that a rising tide lifts all boats and I'm afraid that the reverse holds true for this tidal wave of racism that threatens to sink our great nation. Wake up and smell the Tea Party! LOL.

Nah, but seriously, don't sleep my nig ... the gradual politically motivated repossession of our hard earned rights hidden behind the guise of "national security" will only continue to get worse my friends. Happy Cinco De Mayo!
