CHRIS LIVE AKA SHAKER SAYS: Admittedly, every time that my NY Giants obliterate their playoff hopes (NOTE: A troubling pattern of loserdom that shows no signs of letting up anytime soon), I almost immediately and reflexively turn my complete sports fan attention to the NBA and it's action, which we ALL know to be "fantastic"! LOL. However, this year my pro-sports sensibilities unanimously said, "Not so fast Chris!".
What started with the New York's "other" team, The Jets, accidentally making it to the post season (thereby becoming this season's lovable "underdog") culminated last night with the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl by a decisive score of 31-17. Now, with the Indianapolis Colts facing off versus Drew Brees and Co. - both number 1 seeds in their respective divisions - nobody in their right mind would call either of these teams "underdogs" ... but, this isn't about that. No, this is about the redemption of an embattled city and, indeed, an entire state.
Look, I like Peyton Manning. Along with being a great athlete, he consistently demonstrates a brilliant mind for strategy that, in effect, makes him the coach on ANY field that he digs his cleats into. Nevertheless, as a native of New Orleans, I am sure that even he knows that to win Super Bowl XLIV was a blessing that only the hands of Saints could lay upon that ravaged city. They needed their 1st championship in franchise history. The Saints were America's team.
4 years ago, when the torrential tears of Hurricane Katrina breached the poorly constructed levees that once protected this majestic city nearly all hope was lost. Last night, GOD once again smiled on New Orleans and, if only for a highlight reel moment, made life in "The Big Easy" a bit easier to bear. Smile Louisiana, Jesus loves Y.O.U.!

Reggie Bush receives a congratulatory kiss from the 1 girl with a sextape whom Y.O.U. might (NOTE: And I mean might) still wife ... lol.
